Nighttime Emergency Utility Project on I-91 in Windsor This Weekend; Detour Required

    

      The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that there will be nighttime emergency utility work on I-91 northbound and northbound in Windsor overnight, Saturday/Sunday, January 18-19, 2014. A detour will be required (details below).

      The utility project consists of the replacement of an electric line and is scheduled to occur midnight Saturday to 6:00 a.m. Sunday. The tentative inclement weather date: Saturday/Sunday, January 25-26, 2014).

      This project is being performed by CL&P under an encroachment permit from the DOT.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

      On Sunday, January 19, 2014, motorists can expect I-91 Northbound and Southbound Highway closures from Exit 35B (Rte. 218) to Exit 36 (Rte. 178).  Work will require a detour to be implemented while work is being performed. Traffic control personnel, signing patterns, and crash attenuators will be utilized to guide motorists through the detour. The emergency work schedule for this project is from midnight to 6:00 a.m.

DETOUR: From 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m., motorists will use the following routes: Rte. 218 (Putnam Memorial Highway) to Rte. 159 (Windsor Avenue) to Rte. 178 (Park Avenue) and vice versa. The HOV lane, slow-speed lane and right shoulder will be closed between midnight and 3:00 a.m. and then again from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. All lanes will be open at 6:00 a.m.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
