Installation of New Traffic Control Signals at 11 Locations
The Department of Transportation (Department) is developing plans to install new traffic control signal equipment at 11 locations in the towns/cities of Clinton, Groton, Mansfield, Middletown, North Stonington, Norwich and Old Saybrook. The following intersections are included:
Project No. 172-423:
Clinton - Route 1 at Grove Street and North High Street (Intersection No. 027-201)
Groton – Route 184 at Kings Highway and Wal-Mart Drive (Intersection No. 058-220)
Groton – Route 349 at Meridian Street at CBS Highway (Intersection No. 058-225)
Groton – Route 1 at SR 614 (Allyn Street) (Intersection No. 058-249)
Groton – Route 1 at Maxson Road and Drive to Lighthouse Square (Intersection No. 058-251)
Mansfield – Route 195 at School Crossing (Whitney Hall) (Intersection No. 077-218)
Middletown – Route 9 at Route 154 and SR 410 (Intersection No. 082-201)
North Stonington – Route 49 at I-95 SB off-ramp and SR 617 (Intersection No. 101-206)

It is the Department’s policy to keep persons informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development.  At this time, it is anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will not be necessary.
The design plans for the project are expected to be completed in February 2015 and the project is tentatively advertised for construction in May 2016.
