Expect I-95 New Haven Weeknight Traffic Impacts Monday, September 29 and Wednesday, October 1

      The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that construction activities related to the installation of overhead signage on I-95 in the Long Wharf area are expected to cause delays throughout the I-95 New Haven Corridor during nighttime on Monday, September 29 and Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Hours will be between midnight and 5 a.m.

      Motorists traveling on I-95 through the Long Wharf area should expect delays during the overnights of Monday, September 29 and Wednesday, October 1, 2014 due to the installation of overhead signage.

STOPPAGE/ RAMP/DETOUR INFO –

12 AM and 5 AM       Traffic on I-95 Northbound and I-95 Southbound in the vicinity of the Sargent Drive on-ramp to I-95 Southbound and the I-95 Southbound off-ramp to Sargent Drive (Exit 46), will be stopped for a 35 minute period. During this time, the I-95 Southbound off-ramp to Sargent Drive (Exit 46), the I-95 Northbound off-ramp to Long Wharf Drive (Exit 46), and the Long Wharf on-ramp to I-95 Northbound will be closed.

Double right lane closure of I-95 Southbound between the I-91 Southbound off-ramp to I-95 Southbound and the Sargent Drive on-ramp to I-95 Southbound. Two travel lanes will remain open during this time.

11 PM – 6 AM

Single right lane closure on I-95 Northbound between the Howard Avenue Bridge over I-95 and the Long Wharf Drive on-ramp to I-95 Northbound. Two travel lanes will remain open during this time.

Wednesday, October 1, 2014

10 PM – 12 AM:

Double left lane closure on I-95 Southbound between the I-91 Southbound ramp to I-95 Southbound and the Sargent Drive on-ramp to I-95 Southbound. Two travel lanes will remain open during this time.

11 PM – 1 AM

Single left lane closure on I-95 Northbound between the Howard Avenue Bridge over I-95 and the Long Wharf Drive on-ramp to I-95 Southbound. Two travel lanes will remain open during this time.

12 AM – 4 AM

Triple lane closure on I-95 Southbound between the I-91 Southbound ramp to I-95 Southbound and the Sargent Drive on-ramp to I-95 Southbound. Traffic will be reduced to one lane at this time.

1 AM – 6 AM

Double left lane closure on I-95 Northbound between the Howard Avenue Bridge over I-95 and the Long Wharf Drive on-ramp to I-95 Northbound. Traffic will be reduced to one lane at this time.

4 AM – 6 AM

Double lane closure on I-95 Southbound between the I-91 Southbound ramp to I-95 Southbound and the Sargent Drive on-ramp to I-95 Southbound. Two travel lanes will be open at this time.

RAINDATE- In case of cancellation due to weather, the work Monday, September 29 will be rescheduled to Tuesday, September 30, 2014, and the work Wednesday, October 1 will be rescheduled to Thursday, October 2, 2014.

CTDOT encourages safe driving throughout the I-95 New Haven Corridor and asks motorists to follow posted speed limits to maintain safe and efficient traffic flow as construction continues. The Department is working to inform local residents of current and upcoming construction activities through announcements such as this, as well as the I-95 NHHC Corridor Improvement Program website (www.I95NewHaven.com).
