Most workers who are laid off or furloughed may receive unemployment benefits. To be eligible, you must:

  1. Be totally or partially unemployed
  2. Have an appropriate reason (such as the employer doesn’t have enough work for you is reducing its staff)
  3. Have worked in Connecticut during the past 12 months (this period may be longer in some cases)
  4. Have earned a minimum amount of wages determined by Connecticut guidelines
  5. Be actively seeking work each week
  6. Be filing your claim for benefits on a timely basis
  7. Be physically and mentally able to work

If we see that you are running out of unemployment benefits, we may enroll you in a special reemployment services program. You must participate in all of the assessment interviews, orientation, and referred reemployment services to continue receiving benefits.
