Wildlife Division Seasonal Job Opportunities

The Wildlife Division frequently has Seasonal Resource Assistant positions available at its different offices and locations. These positions are available for individuals interested in acquiring experience in the profession of wildlife management. A background in wildlife biology or environmental science is highly preferred for most positions. Pay rates vary from $11.00 to $14.00 per hour, depending on education and experience. Positions are typically 6 months in duration (no more than 1,030 hours) and have between a 35- to 40-hour work week.

Current Seasonal Resource Assistant Openings 

State Land Wildlife Impoundment Maintenance: The Seasonal Resource Assistant will be based at the Wildlife Division’s Franklin Swamp Wildlife Management Area in North Franklin, CT, but work will be conducted statewide. There are 91 state land wildlife impoundments that have been identified by the DEEP Wildlife Division as being a priority for management. The long-term goal of this management is to focus on maintaining adequate access to these impoundments, dike maintenance, and in some instances, active water level management. GIS Mapping: based at DEEP's Eastern District Headquarters in Marlborough. The Wildlife Division is seeking to hire Seasonal Resource Assistants to work within the Habitat Management Program to assist with GIS mapping (ArcMap10.2), data bases, habitat technical assistance, and other administrative duties. Individuals will have the opportunity to work closely with state agency wildlife biologists and a wide range of staff responsible for managing wildlife habitat across the state. Conservation Education/Firearms Safety Program (Office Assistants) at the Sessions Woods Wildlife Management Area in Burlington and the Franklin Swamp Wildlife Management Area in North Franklin. The Wildlife Division is seeking to hire Seasonal Resource Assistants to work with the Conservation Education/Firearms Safety (CE/FS) Program, which provides classes for firearms, hunting, bowhunting, and trapping certification throughout the State of Connecticut. Hartford Wildlife Division Main Office (Office Assistant): The Wildlife Division is seeking to hire a Seasonal Resource Assistant in Hartford, CT, to work with a variety of Division programs, including the Natural Diversity Database (NDDB), Nuisance Wildlife Control, Scientific Collecting, and Wildlife Rehabilitation. This position is posted as continuous recruitment and start times vary.
