Permitting and Reporting Requirements for the Collection of Household Hazardous Waste, Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator Hazardous Waste, Electronic Waste, Pharmaceutical Waste and Sharps
Permanent and one-day collection programs that collect household hazardous waste (HHW), conditionally exempt small quantity generator (CESQG) hazardous waste, electronic waste, pharmaceutical waste or sharps must be permitted by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the permittee must submit reports to DEEP concerning collection activities as follows:
- For one-day collections, a report must be submitted annually (30 days after the last collection event of each calendar year, but not later than December 31st of each calendar year). These collections must be permitted under the General Permit for the One-Day Collection of Certain Wastes and Household Hazardous Waste.
- For permanent HHW facilities, a report must be submitted on a biannual basis (at the end of July and at the end of the collection season). These facilities must be permitted under a Permit to Construct and Operate a Solid Waste Facility.
