DEEP Announces Temporary Closure of a Portion of Enders State Forest in Granby
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced the temporary closure of a portion of Enders State Forest in Granby to allow for construction activity in the area around the waterfalls. The closure will impact the area around the waterfalls south of Route 219. The remainder of Enders State Forest will remain open for recreational purposes.
The Enders Falls Trail project improvements are designed to follow the Accessibility Guidelines for Outdoor Developed Areas and enhance public safety and sustainability. The enhanced trail will take visitors along a series of stone steps and platforms offering greater viewing opportunities of the gorge. It is anticipated that the work will be completed sometime in mid-2019.
Nearby parks and forests to Enders State Forest include: American Legion and Peoples State Forests in Barkhamsted, Burr Pond State Park in Torrington, and Stratton Brook State Park in Simsbury.
