On June 20, 2018 the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police received notification from Danbury Hospital that the victim from the boating accident on Candlewood Lake in New Fairfield yesterday afternoon had died. The victim, Wanda Tirado, 38, of Waterbury was pronounced deceased at Danbury Hospital at 11:15 am. Tirado sustained fatal injuries as a result of a boating accident that took place on the afternoon of June 19, 2018 on Candlewood Lake. Tirado was a swimmer from the involved vessel. The accident is currently under investigation by the State EnCon Police’s Boating Accident Investigation Unit (BARU). Tirado’s body will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.  No further information will be released at this time
