Gov. Malloy: Infinity Music Hall Coming to Hartford
Expansion of Connecticut Business Will Create Jobs, Raise City Profile
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) has requested $1.3 million in bond funding to assist Norfolk's Infinity Music Hall and Bistro in opening a second, larger location in the Front Street District of Hartford. The funding would come through the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), the organization responsible for attracting new economic opportunities in the region.
"Infinity Music Hall will be a great addition to our capital city, one that will complement the other top-notch entertainment venues," said Governor Malloy. "DECD and CRDA have worked diligently to attract and retain business in Connecticut-this project will do both by bolstering economic activity in Hartford and creating a draw for people from throughout the region."
The 300-seat Infinity Music Hall and Bistro in Norfolk, Connecticut has hosted more than 900 shows and served over one hundred thousand patrons since first opening in 2008. The new Hartford location will seat 500 with the restaurant seating 100, and will draw musical entertainment from around the country.
"We urge the Bond Commission to approve this funding," said Suzanne Hopgood, Chair of CRDA. "This is an excellent opportunity to create good jobs in Connecticut and highlight the venues that will draw people to the historic downtown. Hartford is part of an exciting statewide revival that includes investments in housing, business, and our city centers."
"Infinity Music Hall & Bistro is delighted to establish its second location for intimate concerts and creative cuisine at the Front Street Entertainment District in Hartford - and are thrilled to be a part of Hartford's renaissance," said Dan Hincks, President of Infinity Music Hall. "We are dedicated to bringing the best music in the world, of all genres, to a high quality concert hall in a relaxed environment. We have become known for our pristine acoustics, our friendly staff and our first rate restaurant at our Norfolk location. We look forward to bringing those same high standards of quality to the Front Street Hartford location as well."
"This is about jobs and arts - one of our biggest job creators," said Mayor Pedro Segarra. "As we move forward with several dynamic housing and economic development projects in the Downtown and actively recruit larger conventions and events, having a resource like this further differentiates us from the competition. It furthers the momentum we have built as a true renaissance city and a special place to live, work and raise a family."
Infinity Music Hall on Front Street is expected to be completed in late 2013.
The State Bond Commission meets to vote on the item on Wednesday, October 3, 2012.
