Hartford, May 21 – Anyone thinking about entering the market to buy a home is welcome to attend a free two-hour evening program being offered jointly by the Department of Consumer Protection and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA), the organizations announced today.

“This 2-hour program at the Berlin-Peck Library marks the first time where we’ve offered the combined knowledge and expertise of these two organizations together in one brief session,” Consumer Protection Commissioner Jonathan A. Harris said today. “I encourage anyone who is starting to consider a purchase, or who has questions about working with an agent or going through the financing process, to attend and get the unbiased, objective information they need.”

“This workshop will help potential homebuyers understand the complicated process of buying a home,” said Evonne M. Klein, Chairperson of CHFA. “Our staff can answer questions and help people understand how to get started if they are thinking of buying a home.”

“Tips for Homebuyers: Working with Agents and Lenders” starts promptly at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 27 at the Berlin-Peck Public Library at 234 Kensington Road, Berlin.

“We are grateful to the Berlin-Peck Library and the town of Berlin for providing a convenient, inviting venue for this program,” Harris said. “We hope to offer additional programs of interest to consumers throughout the year and across the state.”
