HARTFORD, October 31 – On Sunday November 2^nd at 2:00 a.m., when Connecticut residents and businesses turn the clock back to 1:00 a.m., patrons and owners of cafes, bars and restaurants that sell liquor are not allowed a “do-over” of that last hour, the Department of Consumer Protection clarified today. When daylight saving time ends Sunday at 2:00 a.m., no further sales or consumption of alcoholic liquor is permitted in Connecticut’s restaurants, clubs, and bars.

“Although we turn the clock back to 1:00 a.m., the law does not allow liquor sales to restart or continue,” Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said.  “On Sunday, once 2:00 a.m. is reached -- the first time -- all liquor sales and consumption must stop.”

Both the Division of Liquor Control, the state’s liquor control authority, and the Liquor Control Commission operate under the auspices of the Department of Consumer Protection.
