Department of Consumer Protection Launches Application Process for Medical Marijuana Producers and Dispensary Facilities
Applications and information now available online
“With the final regulations’ posting on the Secretary of State’s website, the Regulations for the Palliative Use of Marijuana became effective today, and we are moving forward immediately with the next phase of implementation, to identify those entities that will produce and dispense medical marijuana to patients certified in Connecticut,” agency Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said today. “Interested persons may visit www.ct.gov/dcp/mmp to view the Requests for Applications and begin the application process.”
The Department plans to award between three and five dispensary facility licenses. Preferred locations are Fairfield County, Hartford County, New Haven County, Litchfield County and New London County. The Department also reserves the right to award more than five dispensary facility licenses in the event it concludes that it would be desirable to have additional dispensary facilities to serve registered patients.
The Department plans to award three producer licenses. As with dispensary facilities, the Department reserves the right to award more than three producer licenses if it concludes that additional producers are desirable.
Both the producer and the dispensary facility licenses will be awarded on a competitive basis based on the RFA responses.
The deadline for applications for both dispensary facility and production facility licenses is November 15th at 3:00 p.m.
The agency requires that all questions about the application process that applicants and potential applicants may have, be communicated by email only to dcp.mmp@ct.gov with the subject line “Medical Marijuana RFA Question.”
Complete information concerning the Requests for Applications is available for review and download at www.ct.gov/dcp/mmp.
