Liquor Compliance Check in Branford Identifies Three Stores That Allegedly Sold to Minor
On Saturday afternoon, all sixteen (16) package stores and grocery stores that sell beer in Branford were tested for compliance. Thirteen passed and it is alleged that three stores failed the compliance check by selling alcoholic liquor to the minor.
The 3 stores which allegedly failed are:
· The Wine Barrel at 601 West Main St.
· Shoreline Wine & Spirit sat 181 Main St.
· J Foodmart at 487 East Main St.
If an allegation of sale to a minor is found to be true, each of the stores may be called to appear before the Liquor Control Commission at an administrative hearing to address the charges, and could face administrative penalties.
“Our goal is 100% compliance, and I want to commend those permittees who were in full compliance and I thank them and the Branford police for their continued diligence,” Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said today. “It’s important that all permittees take extra care not to sell alcohol to minors. Reducing youth access to alcohol can help to prevent needless tragedies.”
