Continental Recalls Tires on 2008-2009 Ford F-250/F-350 Trucks

Tread separation could cause a crash, company reports

HARTFORD, March 21 – Owners of 2008 and 2009 Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks should watch their mail for a letter from Continental Tire this month, as the company recalls about 390,000 Contitrac tires supplied as original equipment on some Ford trucks from the 2008-2009 model years.

The recalled tires were included on some 2008 and 2009 Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks and are as follows:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tire Brand Name / Tire Line / Tire Size:

Production Dates:

    CONTINENTAL/CONTITRAC / LT275/70R18 125/122S

5/6/07 - 9/20/08

    CONTINENTAL/CONTITRAC TR BSW / LT275/70R18 125/122S

    CONTINENTAL/CONTITRAC TR OWL / LT275/70R18 125/122S

According to Continental Tire, some of the tires may experience uneven wear and vibration and, in some cases, separation between the belt edges, especially when overloaded or when the temperature is very high.

Separation of the belt edges could lead to tread belt separation, increasing the risk of a crash.

Continental Tire will notify owners and replace the affected tires free of charge. Owners may contact Continental Customer Service toll-free at 1-888-799-2168.
