Real Estate Broker - Initial/Exam
Purpose:
This application is for an individual broker who has taken pre-licensure real estate courses from a Connecticut approved school.

Prerequisites:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Actively engaged as a real estate salesperson in CT for at least 3 years.
- 60-hour classroom course in Real Estate Principles and Practices.
- 15-hour classroom course in Real Estate Brokerage Principles and Practices.
- 15-hour classroom course in Legal Compliance.
- Two (2) 15-hour pre-license elective courses OR
- One (1) 30-hr pre-license Appraisal/pre-license elective course OR
- 20 real estate transactions in the previous 5 years. A transaction is defined as a legal transfer of real estate property or execution of a lease agreement.
- Actively engaged as a licensed real estate salesperson under the supervision of a licensed real estate broker in this state for at least 1,500 hrs., including no less than 4 real estate transactions during the three (3) years immediately preceding the date of application.

Mandatory course completion certificates:
- 60-hour classroom course in Real Estate Principles and Practices.
- 15-hour classroom course in Real Estate Brokerage Principles and Practices.
- 15-hour classroom course in Legal Compliance.
- 1,500 hours Experience Form.
- Elective course completion certificates: Two (2) 15-hour OR One (1) 30-hour elective OR 20 Real Estate Transactions Form.
Examination Information:
You must be approved before you can register and schedule the examination. After the application is reviewed and approved, you will receive instructions on how to register and schedule the examination.
Please be aware of the following prior to submitting your application:
- You may take the examination on an unlimited basis for up to one year from the date of eligibility.
- You must pass both portions of the examination within one (1) year of eligibility.
- If you do not pass both portions within the one year of eligibility, you must reapply.
- After you pass both portions of the examination, within the one year of eligibility, you have two (2) years from the date of the most recently passed portion to activate your license.
- All real estate broker licenses expire on November 30th.

- Application Fee: $120.00

Examination Fee: $59.00. The examination fee will be due at the time you schedule the examination with PSI.
Brokerage - Legal Entities (LLC, Corporation, etc.):

If you intend to engage in the real estate business as a legal entity (LLC. Corporation, LLP, etc.) you must obtain a broker license in the name of that legal entity. Follow these application procedures first; then AFTER you pass the CT Real Estate Broker Licensing Examination, download the New Legal Entity Application and mail it with the applicable fees and your passing broker exam score reports.
Renewal & CE information:
All real estate broker licenses expire on November 30th.
