Commission on the Standardization of the Collection of Evidence in Sexual Assault Investigations
Minutes of the Meeting of March 16, 2015
Office of the Chief State's Attorney
Rocky Hill, Connecticut
In attendance: Maureen Platt, Chair, Joy Reho, Linda Cimino, Denise Covington, Candida Fusco
The meeting was called to order at 3:05 pm.
Minutes from the December 2014 and February 2015 meetings were read and approved.
Due to the fact that there were so few members present, it was decided that we would defer substantive discussions on many important matters until the June meeting.
Denise Covington gave a report on the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program. She stated that there have been 146 cases this fiscal year. She also reported that there will be another SANE training program conducted next week and 18 people have enrolled in this class.
Linda Cimino reported that the Bill Paying subcommittee is currently operating within its budget.
Joy Reho reported that the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Forensic Science Laboratory has made tremendous progress in the turn-around time in processing sexual assault kits and currently is able to process evidence in less than 60 days and often is able to conduct testing within 30 days.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 pm.
