Minutes of the Meeting of September 16, 2013
Office of the Chief State's Attorney
Rocky Hill, Connecticut
In attendance: Maureen Platt, Chair, Candida Fusco, Marielle Daniels, Michelle Noehren, Laura Cordes, Denise Covington.
The meeting was called to order at 3:02 p.m.
The minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed and accepted.
Linda Cimino was unable to attend, but provided a written report from the Bill Paying subcommittee. This report was reviewed by the members.
Denise Covington gave the report on the Sexual Assault Forensice Examiner (SAFE) program. She stated that the program has seen 52 responses since July 1, and 135 responses for the year. She reported that the program is performing very well and that there seems to be an increased interest from medical providers in receiving the training. In fact, she reported that she already has students enrolled in the Spring course.
The group next discussed the problems and concerns with the newly required electronic medical report forms. It was agreed that this will continue to be an area of interest to the Commission and will require numerous discussions over many meetings.
Laura Cordes reported that the video is almost ready for distribution and thanked everyone for their assistance. She also agreed to work with Michelle Noehren in developing a cover letter which will attempt to highlight some of the major changes in the new guidelines.
Maureen Platt stated that the Commission needs a gynecologist to serve as a member and urged the members to think about a possible candidate.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:29 pm.
