Minutes of the Meeting of December 20, 2010

Members present were:Chair Maureen Platt Temchin, Patti Lamonica, Joy Reho, Manell Daniels, Brian Narkewicz, Michelle Noehren, Linda Cimino, Denise Covington, John Leventhal, Bob Allensworth, Nancy Kushins, Anna Dorognazi, Erica Kesselman, Candida Fusco and Elaine Pagliaro.

Minutes from the September 20, 2010 meeting were accepted.

Update on Distribution of Technical Guidelines

Copies of the guidelines were distributed and several members discussed proposed changes and language revisions. Elaine Pagliaro reported that she would be resubmitting the guidelines with the suggested revisions at the next meeting of the Commission.

SAFE/SANE Update

The SANE Program is up and running in three hospitals. Middlesex Hospital is still not on board yet, but it is anticipated that they will soon be participating. Letters have been sent out explaining how the SANE program works. Plans are being formulated to present information to the Connecticut Association of Police Chiefs regarding the use and availability of the SANE nurses.

Report of the Bill Paying Sub-Committee

Linda Cimino reported on the recent meeting of the Bill-Paying Sub-Committee. Issues have recently been raised concerning the distribution of HIV nPEP prophylaxis for victims of sexual assault. The Commission reached a consensus that the prophylaxis be distributed utilizing in conformance with the best medical practice and guidelines.

Discussion of Possible Topics of Discussion for Upcoming Year

Now that the task of completing the Technical Guidelines is almost complete, members were encouraged to suggest new topics of discussion for future meetings of the Commission.

Next Years meeting were scheduled for the dates of: March 21, 2011, June 20, 2011, September 19, 2011 and December 12, 2011. All meetings will be held from 3 to 4pm at the Chief State’s Attorney’s Office, 300 Corporate Place, Rocky Hill.
