ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG DENOUNCES ATTACK ON ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT
(Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong today denounced the Trump Administration's recent effort to gut the Endangered Species Act. The Office of the Attorney General is reviewing all legal options with partner states and is prepared to join efforts to block the unlawful and harmful changes.
"The Endangered Species Act is an American success story and its landmark protections are deeply embedded in our nation's environmental laws. The Trump Administration's reckless pursuit of its deregulation agenda threatens to upend decades of progress toward preservation and conservation not only of listed endangered species, but those whose threatened status points toward future risk. This is yet another gift to the fossil fuel industry at the expense of our planet," said Attorney General Tong. "I am in close coordination with attorneys general across the country and am reviewing all legal options to challenge this unlawful and deeply harmful proposal."
