• Attorney General Files Agreement to Revoke Pension of Former Winchester Finance Director

  Under an agreement filed in Hartford Superior Court today, the former finance director for the town of Winchester who pleaded guilty to multiple felony larceny charges for stealing at least $2 million from the town will have his pension revoked, Attorney General George Jepsen said today.

• New Haven Dentist Pays $212,000 To Settle False Claims Act Allegations

  United States Attorney David B. Fein and Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that KRISTI ROSSOMANDO, D.M.D. and her dental practice, The CHILDREN’S DENTAL GROUP, P.C., with offices located at 825 Grand Avenue in New Haven, have entered into a civil settlement with the federal and state governments in which they will pay $212,000 to resolve allegations that they violated the federal and state False Claims Acts.

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Banking Commissioner Howard F. Pitkin are announcing that Wells Fargo and Wachovia customers who are having trouble paying their mortgage loans may attend a home preservation workshop the bank is hosting on Dec. 20, 2011 in Hartford.

  On Tuesday, July 17, the Attorney General will show his support for striking health care workers at picket lines in Danbury, Stamford, Westport and Milford. Caregivers at five HealthBridge nursing homes in Connecticut began strikes on July 3 over unfair labor practices after the company ended negotiations and implemented what it claimed was its “last, best and final” offer.

  The state of Connecticut and the Federal Trade Commission have entered into a settlement with three Branford-based companies and their owner that will provide restitution to consumers harmed by the companies’ alleged deceptive and unfair Internet marketing and sales practices, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said today.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) reported over 62,000 consumer complaints from veterans, military families and service men and women in 2012 alone. To assist America’s military families and veterans avoid scams, Attorney General George Jepsen is joining with the FTC, consumer protection organizations and other private sector groups in the second annual Military Consumer Protection Day on Wednesday, July 16.
