Attorney General Applauds Legislature's Restoration Of Long Island Sound License Plate Program

"I am pleased that the General Assembly heeded my call to reinstate the successful Long Island Sound license plate program and rescind illegal diversion of these charitable funds. This program has provided millions of dollars since 1992 to protect and preserve the Sound, a precious natural resource. It gives motorists an opportunity to support vital programs serving the Sound. Diverting these moneys into the General Fund made no sense, gutting a successful program while providing a pathetic pittance for deficit reduction.
